Coach trips
We now run monthly coach trips to various destinations. The coach firm we use is BOLTON SCHOOL COACHES.
In organising the trips we try to keep travelling time to a maximum one and a half hours so that we don’t have to make a stop during the journey. The cost is always £10 unless there is food included.
We always meet at the Red Lion car park and unless otherwise informed departure time is 9.30am and the return from our destination at 4.00pm. People are asked to park round on the Conservative Club car park rather than tie up a Red Lion car park space all day.

Pretoria Walks
We run a very successful and popular regular event which we call a “WALK & TALK” round the ruins of the former Hulton Colliery which is situated off the end of Broadway off Newbrook Road.
This was the site on December 21st 1910 of the PRETORIA MINING DISASTER. 344 local men and boys were killed in an undergound explosion. There is an Over Hulton Memorial at the end of Broadway.
Mining historian ALAN DAVIES takes us on a guided tour of the ruins which are still clearly visible in the undergrowth. He gives a full account of the causes, the event itself and the aftermath.
We always charge £3 for this event.

Stout footwear is essential for attendance of this event. Dogs are allowed but must be kept under control.
